“I think of these works on paper as thoughts I had about lightness and darkness, the use of space and placement in composition.
I saw dark, calligraphic lines separated, as in breathing spaces, by areas of lightness. They do, on contemplation, give a feeling of the flow and interconnection of landforms and space but truly these are drawings first.”
