IN THE REALM OF METAPHOR statement re recent paintings, Patricia Moore, Schieder and Associates Gallery, Toronto, 1993
When thinking about the latest paintings, I think of sounds and movement in the realm of metaphor. Darkness looms at the edges, like thunder black retreating, muffled, faded. Like history, revealed in flashes of memory, bright, crisp, hard. Like dancing- moving at once compressed and closed in then released. Like sounds heard amid quiet, they suggest narrative, presenting the tensions between what is full and dense and what is free and clear.
